This is a very simple drink which can be prepared instantly. It is the very first recipe I ever taught my six year old son. He liked it!!!!

As soon as summer arrives, my husband starts making 2 litres of lemonade daily. This has become a routine in my family. We try to avoid buying drinks in stores as much as we can, because those drinks are not natural and they contain too much sugar.

Ingredients
  1. ½ cup of fresh lemon juice
  2. 1 litre of water
  3. 4 tablespoons of fine sugar (increase the amount of sugar if you like your drink more sweet). If fine sugar is not available, you can use large grain sugar. This applies to some countries like the Indian sub continent where fine sugar can be expensive and difficult to obtain.
  4. Few ice cubes
  5. Few mint leaves for garnishing. If don’t like mint omit it.
  6. Please note: The amounts of lemon juice and sugar given in this recipe is the way we make it. You can re adjust the amounts of lemon juice and sugar according to your preference.
Instructions
  1. Place the lemon juice in a jug or bottle. Add sugar. Then add water. Stir or shake well until the sugar dissolves. If you are using large grain sugar, you will have the shake the mixture quite a lot until the sugar dissolves. Then add mint leaves and stir. Add ice. Enjoy.
Notes
  1. When using large grain sugar, my husband sometimes boils sugar in water, then leaves it to cool down. He then adds the water and sugar mixture to the lemon juice. Boiling sugar in water ensures that the large grain sugar is dissolved well in the water. If you are in a hurry to make lemonade, you will not have time to boil sugar in water and wait for it to cool down. In that case, do make sure you shake the mixture well so the large grain sugar dissolves properly in the mixture.
